Terms of Service
 
The Internet is a very powerful medium and it's necessary to have a few rules in place. Also, due to the crap Internet service available at Orere Point, we are constrained in what we can happily handle in terms of file sizes for upload and so on. Here we go...
 
 
The following will not be put onto the site:
 

• Material that is copyright, for which submitter does not hold the copyright
• Material that is offensive, as judged by what is deemed acceptable in the media of the day
• Material that is private or confidential to another party
• Material that is illegal, or subject to judicial order
• Material that is inflammatory or defamatory
• Material that may unreasonably cause hardship or embarrassment to any individual
• Material that is known to be incorrect

 
 
Notwithstanding the above, material that may be accepted for the site includes:
 
• Local news
• Local stories
• Notices of upcoming events
• Reports of recent events
• Photographs under 150kb - but not heaps of them!
• Individuals' avertisements e.g. "Wanted to Buy", "For Sale", "Lost and found" etc.
 
It is preferred that any material for submission be emailed - a wide range of file types* are acceptable but please keep the size to 150 kb max. No unsized photos or other large files please!
 
* If you have a Mac, and use a native word processor such as Pages or EndNote, I will not be able to open it, so just put your text in the email.
 
I will give fair consideration to anything that is submitted for publication, but reserve the right to choose what goes up and whether or not I edit it - the same way it works if you send a letter to the editor at the Herald for example. If I do edit or abridge something, I will say so on the site.
